Consumers’ access to knowledge is key

The NCF is putting knowledge in reach of consumers through its pilot Access to Knowledge (A2K) Centre in KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga.

Knowledge is the key to empowering consumers in the marketplace, improving quality of life, and putting a stop to abuse by unscrupulous businesses, according to Thami Bolani, chairman of the NCF.

“For this reason, our role at the NCF has always prioritised information and education,” he said.

Now, partnering with Nestle and Metropolitan, the NCF has rented premises from the municipality in KwaMhlanga – about 50 km east of Pretoria – and is creating a knowledge and training facility.

The centre will provide training in financial literacy, computers and communication technology, among other fields.

The launch is scheduled for 16 February; more details will be published nearer the time.
