What is Consumer Fair?

Consumer FairConsumer Fair is a tabloid newspaper published every two months by the National Consumer Forum to advance the interests of consumers in South Africa.

The newspaper raises funding – through advertising and subscriptions – to sustain the work of the National Consumer Forum as it helps South African citizens to understand and exercise their consumer rights.

Mission

Consumer Fair’s mission is to:

  • Raise the awareness of consumers about their rights;
  • Educate consumers about issues that affect them, highlighting the channels they can pursue when faced with unfair business practices;
  • Give a voice to public grievances on consumer-related matters;
  • Profile the efforts of government and the private sector in furthering the interests of consumers;
  • Raise the profile and capacity of the National Consumer Forum as a lobbying and advocacy group.

Content

The quality of the newspaper’s content is assured through editorial independence, topical stories, straight talk, and selected contributions by experienced consumer journalists across South Africa.
