The NCF in Jan - Feb 2010
The NCF is an independent campaigning body that focuses on issues that matter to consumers, aims to give consumers a strong voice, helps vulnerable consumers who are victims of unscrupulous businesses and helps to build the capacity of consumers to become informed participants in the market-place.
As an NGO, we have very limited financial and human resources, and we can only do so much. For these two months, we are committing ourselves to the activities and programmes listed below.
- Publish Consumer Fair Online monthly
- Publish first edition 2010 of Consumer Fair [dedicated to World Consumer Rights Day]
- Submission to NERSA hearings on 21 January [re: ESKOM request for a 35% increase in electricity tariffs]
- Officially launch Access to Knowledge Centre at KwaMhlanga Mpumalanga
- Commence work on pilot research study into sustainability policy and practices in SA supermarkets
- Start preparations for national conference to mark World Consumer Rights Day on 15 March
- Manage the Consumer Complaints Handling and Referral Service
